ESWT Therapy – Shockwave Therapy

Now offering new FDA focused shock wave treatments in NJ

Performance Ortho is proud to offer ESWT (Extracorporeal Focused Shockwave Therapy) as another non-surgical solution for chronic pain.

At Performance Ortho™, we are committed to providing the latest, most effective treatments for pain relief and recovery. One of the groundbreaking therapies we offer is Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT), a non-surgical, innovative solution for patients suffering from muscle, tendon and joint pain.

ESWT is a non-invasive, FDA-Cleared treatment that delivers high-energy acoustic waves to stimulate stem cells, growth factor and other natural healing factors to injured tissues. Unlike radial shock wave therapy, ESWT can reach deeper structures such as tendons and joints, making it effective for treating spine, shoulder, elbow, and plantar fascia conditions.

ESWT should not be confused with older radial wave treatments (EPAT), which have been associated with patient discomfort and limited results. In contrast, ESWT offers a more comfortable treatment experience and has shown significantly improved therapeutic outcomes.

What is ESWT and How does it work?

ESWT It is a highly localized, precisely focused therapy consisting of high-energy shockwaves creating painless micro-traumas in the injured areas to stimulate deeper healing and regeneration naturally. ESWT has been studied extensively and is proven to penetrate deep into tissues, improving blood flow, reducing inflammation, and triggering the activation of stem cells, all essential for repairing damaged muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joints.

Using the Chattanooga IntelectFocus Shockwave system, focused shock waves are delivered to the target tissue. Treatment sessions can vary typically over several weeks, with each session lasting 8–10 minutes per region. Most patients report experiencing little to no pain during treatment. It’s an excellent option for patients who want to avoid invasive procedures, lengthy rehabilitation, or dependence on medications.
