What is Carpal Tunnel?
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is a very common condition caused by compression of the median nerve as it passes through the carpal tunnel in the wrist. The symptoms most often associated with CTS are numbness, tingling, weakness, and pain, primarily in the thumb, index, middle, and half of the ring finger. Patients often complain that their symptoms are worse in the middle of the night and will wake them up during sleep. The gold standard for diagnosing CTS is neurodiagnostic testing. Accurate diagnosis is the key to successful treatment.
