TENJET® Procedure

TENJET® Procedure

Tenjet® for chronic tendon pain and plantar fasciitis

At Performance Ortho, we recognize how debilitating and frustrating chronic tendon and plantar fascia pain can be, that’s why we’ve partnered with TenJet to offer a minimally invasive solution designed to help you heal and get back to what you love.

TenJet is supported by innovative research developed by the Mayo Clinic to solve chronic, unresponsive pain. TenJet offers a local targeted treatment to remove diseased tendon/plantar fascia tissue while preserving healthy tissue.  With this new technology, the patients experience rapid pain relief and return to an active lifestyle much quicker than with traditional orthopedic surgical procedures.

How does Tenjet® Work?

TenJet uses hydrosurgical technology guided by real-time ultrasound imaging.  Expert physicians insert a small, specialized device through a tiny incision directly into the affected tendon. This device delivers a high-velocity stream of saline that acts like a surgical blade, breaking down and removing only the diseased tendon tissue while preserving the surrounding healthy structures. At the same time, built-in suction removes the loosened tissue, minimizing trauma to the area. By clearing away the source of pain and inflammation, TenJet® allows the body’s natural healing process to take over, often resulting in significant pain relief and improved function within just a few weeks.

Traditional Treatments for Chronic Tendon /Plantar Fascia Pain

  • Rest and anti-inflammatory medications
  • Cortisone injection(s)
  • Physical/Occupational Therapy

If traditional treatments haven’t provided relief and you’re looking for a less invasive alternative to orthopedic surgery, the TenJet® procedure may be the right option for you.

Benefits of TenJet®

  • Minimally Invasive: Requires only a small incision, reducing recovery time and risk of complications.
  • Targeted Treatment: Selective removal of diseased tissue preserves healthy tendon structures.
  • Outpatient Procedure: Can be performed under local anesthesia, allowing patients to return home the same day.
  • Quick Recovery: Many patients experience significant pain relief within weeks and return to normal activities shortly thereafter.
  • Insurance Coverage: The procedure is reimbursed by Medicare and most private insurers.

We have experienced excellent outcomes utilizing TenJet® for the following conditions:

Is the procedure painful?

The TenJet® procedure is typically not painful and is performed at our affiliated surgical center. Most patients tolerate the procedure well under local anesthetic to the region. Additionally, we also offer our patients the option of receiving IV sedation during the procedure. After the treatment you may experience mild post procedural soreness at the site of the procedure, which typically does not last more than 48 hours.
